What is it you truly desire?

This is a question the main character in the series “Lucifer” asks of those, in his pursuit of solving a case.  I’m not asking you to make a deal with the devil, just spend some time thinking about it.

I think we spend more time planning a vacation, wedding, and “fill in special gathering/holiday here” than we do our future.  What does it look like, where are you, what are you doing, and who are you with?

You can’t hit a target that you haven’t identified.  Just like management guru Peter Drucker said, “What gets measured gets managed (and gets done).”  Do you have some ideas now?

In the busy routine of daily life and the endless to-do lists, it’s easy to push something off that doesn’t have a hard deadline attached to it.  It’s easier to get distracted with commenting and liking the endless articles, videos, and pictures that is the internet.  People actually comment on other people’s comments but maybe they are getting paid for all this time and effort.

There are people pursuing what they desire online, everything from Amazon to Zappos.  Things are important but I don’t know if that falls into the truly desire category.

I believe companionship would fall into this category which is why we have a plethora of dating apps.  However, I have seen the target for some members as “Don’t know yet”, so it sounds like they won’t be disappointed when nothing happens.

If you want something to happen, as Phil McGraw said “You have to name it to claim it.”  Also, Proverbs 18:21 is worth reflecting on and can go a long way in helping you with your journey.

How is your list going?  Start “liking” your pursuit as you will then have something to talk about at your next “fill in special gathering/holiday here”.
